I am proud to announce a brand new cassette tape release from Jeff n’ Steve. Scotch Tapes, the amazingly prolific label from Batchawana Bay, Ontario (a mecca for record labels), is releasing our first release for public consumption: “Just The Gems”.
Over many many years, Steve and I have recorded well over 1000 songs, because that is what we do when we get together. Some guys “watch the game”, other guys go golfing, and other guys hit the bars to pickup some “sweet-ass”. Jeff and Steve setup a 4-track, some microphones, pick up a guitar and a drum machine (or piano or empty pop bottle or a whatever is lying around the house) and record songs until the sun rises. Or at least we used to, until Steve moved away and ruined everything.
This marks the first release to have more than 3 copies made, and to not come out on Wowbam Records, which originally existed only to put out Jeff n’ Steve releases. It also marks the return to the format which made us ...famous: the cassette tape.
We scoured hours and hours of music / sound experiments / “screaming tracks” to find 40 minutes worth of PURE GOLD, aka Just the Gems.
